Yoga Nidra is an ancient deep rest practice that guides the mind into a state between wakefulness and dreaming. During this practice, you'll maintain auditory awareness while limiting input from other senses during a guided meditation that proceeds through the 5 koshas (layered aspects of the physical-mental-energetic bodies) to discover, process, and ultimately release deep tensions and blocks. Benefits of the practice can include better sleep quality, improved memory, increased creativity basically a general reset for the central nervous system.
In each session, we will begin by finding comfort in a position (with or without props) that allows for ease and relaxation. Each yoga nidra practice will last roughly 45 minutes, and though each one will be different, they will all follow the same basic format: preparation, resolve, rotation of consciousness, breath work, opposite sensations, visualization, and return. After, we'll slowly reground through our senses and return to the waking world.
